Dr Shamila Beattie is a highly experienced General Practitioner who provides comprehensive, patient-centred care for individuals and families at all stages of life. She is known for her calm, thoughtful approach and her commitment to delivering high-quality, evidence-based medicine tailored to each patient’s unique needs.
Dr Beattie spent her childhood in Dundee, Scotland, before graduating from the University of Edinburgh in 2004. She completed her hospital training at St George’s Hospital in London, where she attained Membership of the Royal College of Physicians (MRCP). She subsequently pursued a career in general practice, gaining broad experience across paediatrics and emergency medicine, while achieving Membership of the Royal College of General Practitioners (UK).
Dr Beattie’s clinical interests include complex chronic disease management, skin cancer medicine, mental health care, women’s health, and weight management. She takes a holistic approach to care, working closely with patients to support both their physical and emotional wellbeing, and is particularly valued for her ability to manage complex and long-term health conditions with clarity and compassion.
Dr Beattie is an accredited ADHD medication prescriber for patients aged 12 years and over with an established diagnosis. She also brings personal insight into the challenges of navigating the NDIS, allowing her to offer empathetic, practical support to patients and families engaged with the scheme.
Alongside her clinical work, Dr Beattie enjoys teaching medical students through Macquarie University and works as a Visiting Medical Officer with the Central Coast Local Health District, reflecting her ongoing commitment to medical education and professional development.
Where clinically appropriate, Dr Beattie also offers video-based consultations, following an initial face-to-face appointment.
Outside of medicine, Dr Beattie enjoys spending time with her young family and exploring new places.
