A Specialist General Practitioner holds both a primary medical degree (MBBS) and a General Practice specialist degree (FRACGP), reflecting a minimum of ten years of comprehensive medical training. With additional training in various areas to address specific healthcare needs, ongoing continuing education ensures they stay abreast of the latest medical advancements.
Dr Shamila Beattie spent her childhood in cold but beautiful Dundee, Scotland before graduating from Edinburgh University in 2004. She then completed her hospital training at St George’s hospital in London where she obtained membership into the Royal College of Physicians (MRCP) before deciding to pursue a career in general practice.
Dr Beattie worked in both paediatrics and emergency medicine whilst obtaining membership in the Royal College of General Practitioners UK. In addition, she has completed a diploma from the faculty of Sexual and Reproductive Health in the UK.
She has spent the last 10 years working on the Central Coast and enjoys a broad mix of general practice including complex chronic disease management, skin cancer checks and mental health conditions.Having been a general practitioner for more than 15 years Dr Beattie believes in holistic care and looks forward to caring for our local community of all ages and backgrounds.
Outside of medicine she keeps herself very busy with her young family and love of exploring new places.
